Campus groups

  • Environmental Club: dedicated to improving and promoting environmental quality and sustainability on campus and in the community.
  • Presidents United to Solve Hunger (P.U.S.H): combined effort from CWU students, faculty, staff, and Ellensburg community partners to connect students in emergency situations with food and other basic needs.
  • Electric Vehicle Club: a community of purpose-driven advocates for driving electric, electric vehicle infrastructure, and electric vehicle autosport.
  • Women in STEM CWU: works to promote, support, and provide resources for female and underrepresented students at Central Washington University.

Sustainability Certificate

CWU’s Sustainability Certificate offers students from any academic path an opportunity to develop experiential, service-learning projects that focus on improving sustainability needs of the university or a community partner.

Sustainability Living Learning Community

Are you interested in connecting with like-minded students to build a more sustainable world? Consider joining CWU’s new Sustainability Living Learning Community! Learn more about social, economic and environmental sustainability, collaborate with your peers, and become empowered to be a sustainability leader, both on campus and in the community. The Sustainability Living Learning Community will be held in Wendell Hill Hall B starting Fall 2023, and is open to students from all majors and levels.

Campus Resources

Archive of Sustainability and Climate Change Documents: The Libraries recently purchased a major digital archive of sustainability and climate change documents. Climate Science and Sustainability: Global Origins of Modern Environmentalism is a searchable digitized collection of primary source documents related to climate science. It chronicles scientific advances and activism form 1957-1995 including tens of thousands of journal articles, government publications, newspapers, magazines, and transcribed television and radio broadcasts. The archive is available to any CWU student, faculty, or staff member.
